Google Datacenters Secrets
Very intresting for people interested in web hosting and datacenters. DataCenterKnowledge compiled a FAQ of known facts about Google Datacenters. Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.
The 3 page article is definitely a must read … a lot of interesting content. Here’s an excerpt (I removed the details about each bullet … go and read it on datacenter knowledge).
How does Google decide where to build its data centers? Here are the factors that are known to influence Google’s data center site location process:
- The availability of large volumes of cheap electricity to power the data centers
- The presence of a large supply of water to support the chillers and water towers used to cool Google’s data centers.
- Distance to other Google data centers.
- Tax incentives.

Plusieurs mois de travail, une nuit blanche de mise en production pour Hugo, Philippe et Eric un nouveau nom de domaine (enfin sur iweb.com), un design digne du web d’aujourd’hui (good job Jérôme) et des nouveaux produits. En plus ce n’est qu’un début … plusieurs nouveautés pourront découller de ce nouveau site. Et une grosse gang qui a travailler sur ce projet (Merci tout le monde, je veux pas nommer tout le monde pcq je vais en oublier et ce serait chien mais tout le monde du DEV et du MKT … et des infrastructures et du service technique … bref tout le monde). Je suis très content.

What web analytic tool do you use?
- I use (and like) Google Analytics a lot.
- I will try Crazyegg shortly for sure.
- I have to mention Percute from Steph Guérin but never tried it.
- I shouldn’t forget my french friend Sébastien and Xiti.

You had problems connecting to MSN yesterday?
Microsoft had problems with it’s Live authentication architecture, resulting in users of Hotmail and MSN (among other systems) not being able to connect. I couldn’t connect on MSN for some hours yesterday. Is it related to the architecture now running on Windows 2008 ? Who knows.
