Power and Cooling are the big challenges of datacenter operators. We are beggining the second phase of our datacenter expansion at iWeb and cooling has been part of our most discussed preocupations. We have also been preoccupied with the noise that can be associated with the cooling equipments inside and outside the datacenter. I am waiting for new cooling solutions like HP seeks smarter data-center cooling | CNET News.com to come out and hope new interesting cooling alternatives will be available soon.

Bon, voilà l’exemple d’un vrai blogueur sur Gérant d’Estrade. Des articles longs, réfléchis avec des photos. Félicitations Émile, tu donnes un bon exemple! Il me reste a essayer de le suivre. Émile publie aussi des articles très intéressants sur WebDépart, HumourQc et Fanatique.

I saw this on Newsvine - Amazon.com Causes Their Own Denial of Service Attack. They definitly did not think it would be so popular ! If I had known, I would have tried to buy one.

I just finished reading this very interesting article on Joel on Software : Human Task Switches Considered Harmful. Now, can someone tell me how we can be effective with MSN, ICQ, AIM running on a computer with 100 contacts in the contact list, 200 legitimate emails coming in per day, a blog to maintain, 10 persons coming to your desk each and every day to ask new questions and hundreds of tasks pending?
Now, people need to understand that when they ask something and say “You can get this done, it will only take 5 minutes” it means five minutes of disruption. Only five little minutes …. it means a lot more.

Bon un petit outil intéressant pour mon équipe ici qui doivent présenter un organigramme de leur département (car les changements sont disons très fréquents) : Cogmap. Le site permet de créer, voir et éditer un organigramme. Parmi les organigrammes les plus consultés, il y a celui de Google ou celui de Microsoft. Je ne sais pas si les informations qui s’y retrouvent sont bien valides, mais ça me semble tout de même intéressant.

Après le débranchement … Québécor aurait rebranché le blog de Patrick Lagacé? Du moins, j’y accède en ce moment : Blogue de Patrick Lagacé Surprenand que ce soit accessible, mais la logique dirait qu’on ne supprime pas du contenu comme cela, ça a une valeur.

Microsoft vient de publier la nouvelle version de Process Monitor qui remplace Filemon et Regmon, deux outils qui avaient été développés par SysInternals et qui sont depuis longtemps des indispensables pour debugger des problèmes avec des serveurs Windows et spécialement avec IIS par exemple. Ce logiciel m’a sauvé des heures de travail pour identifier un problème (qui peut être aussi simple qu’une erreur de permission, mais qui est pratiquement impossible a identifier sous Windows) a plusieurs reprises. Pour télécharger le logiciel : Process Monitor v1.01
